About The Bangor Art Society
Established in 1875, the Bangor Art Society is a visionary group of artists from across the region that network and create monthly. Following in the footsteps of their founders Jeremiah Pearson and Anne Hardy, the Art Society hosts guest artists and speakers, curates projects and provides visual art exhibitions, sales & shows year-round. Its largest event is the annual Open Juried Show every spring, awarding thousands of dollars in cash prizes to visual artists in various categories.
We are a non-profit association dedicated to promoting art and encouraging the creative spirit through a variety of programs, events and art student scholarships. BAS meetings, which often feature artist presentations, are open to the public, and take place at 6 p.m. at Bangor Public Library on the third Tuesday of the month, September through June. Yearly events include an All-Member show in February, a Juried Show in April, the Annual Auction in November, and Paint Bangor Day in July, which culminates in a silent auction. We welcome new members and new ideas, taking delight in passionate, creative spirits!
