How Do I Donate Books?
Note: We are not accepting any books until after the Fall Book sale (October 22-24, 2026). Thank you!
Thank you for your interest in donating books to the library! The books we receive are used by the Friends of the Bangor Public Library in their ongoing and quarterly book sales. All funds raised are used to support the Bangor Public Library’s mission and programs. Please review our policies below before making a donation.
Book Donation Policies:
- Donated books must be in containers and they must be containers that can be left behind.
- For donations of more than 2 containers, please call or email ahead to make an appointment. (We frequently run out of storage space!) The book donation contact is Shavaun Rigler who can be reached at 922-6058 or shavaun.rigler@bangorpubliclibrary.org
- We will often halt accepting book donations for a few months due to space constraints. Check here or call the library if in doubt.
- Please review page three of our Gift Acceptance Policies and Guidelines for information about books you think we should add to our collection.
- There are some categories that we cannot accept:
- Textbooks
- Encyclopedias
- Magazines
- Obsolete instruction books and manuals (ex. computer programs from the 1990s)
