ILL Process

Want to requests materials from another library? Here’s how:

If a book is located on Vega or MaineCat (our catalog systems), you may use the request function to order it. 

For Vega, log into your account and click on the “Place Hold” button for the item you’d like.
 
For MaineCat, click on the request button (look for the red check mark). Fill in your name, library bar code and pick-up site (Bangor Public Library), then submit.

Reference Librarians will search for titles not found on Vega or MaineCat through a nationwide database. Stop by the reference desk, call us at (207) 947-8336 ext. 125, or email us: reference@bangorpubliclibrary.org.

  • Books requested through Vega or MaineCat will usually arrive in 2-3 days via our delivery system. If the books are checked out or on hold for another patron, it may take longer.

  • Books requested through our nationwide system generally arrive in 1-3 weeks.
