About Pat

I usually work in Acrylics and Oils but I have also tried my hand with watercolors. My focus is primarily landscapes and I take inspiration from the beauty of the coast of Maine and Acadia National Park. However, I also see the beauty of nature in my own back yard and everyday things. My approach going forward is to incorporate how people interact with nature and their surroundings. I am grateful to my husband who has made many of the frames for my paintings for this show.

Growing up as one of 11 children, I was often outside in our big yard with my siblings. I enjoyed being out in nature and going on the walks with my dad and older brothers in the woods behind our house. As I was growing up, I was also exposed to art because my uncle was an artist and my aunts painted in watercolors, colored eggs at Easter and pressed flowers in artistic arrangements,

In college, I majored in Biology to learn more about nature and although I had an interest in art, I never had time for it. It was only after I retired that I started taking classes with Bangor Adult Ed and at the University of Maine that I became familiar with various mediums and techniques. I feel that I am still a learner and always will be when it comes to art.

I usually work with Acrylics and Oils and my focus is landscapes. I really love Acadia National Park and many of my paintings originate from the beauty I find in Acadia.

I am thankful for the Bangor Public Library for its support for local artists and all the exhibits that it puts on every year. BPL brings a variety of art for everyone to see and enjoy.
