Support the Library
The Bangor Public Library relies on yearly donations from its community to continue providing quality programming for children, digital literacy classes for adults, books and magazines for all ages, programs and services from book clubs to concerts, and art exhibits to local history presentations — all free to everyone in our community.
There are a number of ways you can help:
- Donate to the Annual Fund
- Become a Monthly Donor
- Make a Tribute Gift
- Consider a Planned Gift
- Join the Friends of the Library

Why Give?
Our library is the finest in Northern New England. However, we need your help to remain relevant, maintain the largest collection in the region, and serve as a community resource for everyone who uses the Library. And, contrary to popular belief, we are not fully funded by the City. (Though we are immensely grateful for the 64% of our budget that does come from the City of Bangor!)
It all started with 7 books in a footlocker so that apprentices could learn and better themselves. The Bangor Public Library has continued that tradition and remains the community’s primary resource for information, books and nurturing a spirit of personal growth and knowledge. As an important part of our cultural and community landscape, let’s keep the Bangor Public Library open for you, your children and your neighbors. With your help we can. Whatever you can do will make a difference, because every dollar counts.
